Predicted NINA-style HFR in pixels for each telescope and sensor, from seeing, diffraction, guiding and pixel size. Tap a cell for the full breakdown.
Each night runs 9 pm to 3 am local time at the ZIP. The estimate comes from the average jet-stream wind at 250 hPa, a rule of thumb for lowland backyard sites: under 20 m/s ≈ 2.3″, 20–30 ≈ 2.7″, 30–40 ≈ 3.1″, 40–55 ≈ 3.5″, over 55 ≈ 4.0″. 7Timer's seeing scale tops out at >2.5″, so it can't separate an average night from a poor one.
Forecast data: 7Timer! (NOAA GFS) and Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0). ZIP locations: US Census Bureau ZCTA Gazetteer.
Add telescopes and cameras to the matrix, or remove ones you don't use. Changes are saved in this browser.
Manufacturer focal lengths, plus the matching reducer or flattener where one is sold. Entries marked ≈ are aperture × focal ratio where the maker doesn't publish a focal length. Plate-solve your own rig for exact numbers.
Pixel size and active resolution from each maker's spec sheet. Resolutions marked ≈ are the sensor's standard size where the maker doesn't publish its own. Mono and color versions of a sensor give the same HFR here, so only the first one adds a column and the rest show Same specs.
